One of my favorite parts of working with our customers is talking to them when they realize how using Batchbook can help them be more efficient. In Webinars, Onboarding Sessions and email correspondence, one of the most common ‘aha’ moments comes when we work through how easy it is to stay on track with Batchbook ToDos, particularly when applied using our ToDo Templates.
Batchbook ToDo templates are a just a common series of actions that you may apply to a Contact Record or a Deal Record to schedule out a whole bunch of tasks all at one time, even far off in to the future.
If you think about your business or or your organization, you probably have a bunch of processes which could be scheduled using a ToDo Template Series. Do you have a checklist of things you do when you get a new customer? How about when you get that first order from someone? When a project starts? When a project ends? When a new lead in generated?
If any situation requires a set series of tasks as a response it’s a great candidate for a ToDo Template and makes sure that these follow up or future tasks aren’t forgotten.

While doing some testing, I was pretty happy to get that SMS notification right there. Why? Because it came from BatchBook (in a roundabout way).
A while back, a customer wrote in looking for SMS notifications for his BatchBook To-Dos. This is something we originally planned to do, but never really got to it. Finally, I figured there must be a service out there that would take an iCalendar feed and push it to SMS. Turns out, the winner was a service we rely on quite heavily around here — Google Calendar.
Step 1: Get your BatchBook To-Dos into Google Calendar
To get your BatchBook To-Dos into Google Calendar, you need to click the “subscribe” button under your To-Do List to grab the iCalendar feed. Here’s what it looks like:

Another forum user, RobinN, has been providing great feedback. Recently, Robin wrote in with this request—along with a detailed workflow description:
I’m humming away on my to do list, but one area constantly trips me up: the inability to tick off as done a to do when I’m looking at the contact record. My workflow is like this:
- Check my dashboard for to dos
- Hover over contacts to determine which ones to call now based on time zone
- Click to that record so that I can make notes in the notes section while we’re talking
My desired next step would be to simply tick off the to do relating to making the call right there in the record. Instead, I have to click the to do to go back to the dashboard, then find the to do in a lengthy list of today’s calls, then tick it off.
Nice! From the contact detail, we already allow you to log a phone call, enter chat notes, add a note, or create a To-Do—why not complete that To-Do as well!? We put it in right away. And here’s how it looks:
