If you take a look at our website, you can pretty much tell what BatchBook is—a social CRM and contact management web application for small businesses and freelancers. There are many things BatchBook is not. But BatchBook is also very flexible (thanks to features like SuperTags and affiliations), which opens the possibility of people turning it into something we never imagined.
New forum user dcis-steve is one of those people. He went from “newbie user” to “BatchBook for Project Management” pioneer in two days. We had a good discussion on the BatchBook Forums about what he was up to. Here is his summary of how turned BatchBook into a project management application.

Last month we officially launched BatchBook for Real Estate, a version of BatchBook customized with SuperTags for the real estate industry. The response has been great.
We know SuperTags are SuperPowerful and the data management possibilities are endless. But giving users a pre-built set of SuperTags pertaining to their industry is a great way to get them off and running.
Today, we’re launching another customized version of BatchBook—BatchBook for Designers.

We worked with several designers, asking them what their data management needs are. From this information, we put together a set of four SuperTags just for designers—”client”, “project”, “partner”, and “new contact” (to manage potential relationships and follow-ups).

Time for another installment of what’s new in BatchBook:
New SuperTag field added: Recurring Dates
This is the major addition from last week. Now, using SuperTags, you can add a new field type called “Recurring Dates”. This field type is for things that come up on regular basis: a birthday; anniversary; call Dad every Monday, etc.
Once you set this SuperTag up in BatchBook, all dates for the upcoming week will display on the Dashboard in the Upcoming Events box on the right hand side of the page:

Now you have no excuse for forgetting your Mother-in-law’s birthday!

One of BatchBook’s key features is the ability to track all sorts of custom data for your contacts. We introduced SuperTags, allowing you to create custom fields, choose which contacts to apply them to, store custom data, generate sortable, printable reports and export the data.
Now, we’ve made it super easy to import custom data. In your “Import a Contact” sidebar (see image below), you can now export a blank CSV template based on the fields you’ve created within your SuperTags. So, while you’re importing all your phone numbers and addresses, you can also easily import data such as favorite color, dog’s name, zodiac sign and just about anything else you can think of.

To assist you in the import process, we’ve built a page with step-by-step instructions that will help you prepare a file chock full of contact info and other custom data for an import to BatchBook. Happy organizing!
