Friends with Business Benefits Update with Red Velvet Cupcakes!

You might remember that we spent a little time in Austin a few weeks ago. In addition to getting to hang out with a ton of Batchbook customers and partners, Michelle sat on a panel with some of our Small Business Web friends: Freshbooks, MailChimp and Formstack. The panel was moderated by Scott McMullan of Google. He’s part of the Google Enterprise group and leads the Google Apps Partners program.

Hold on. Google? Enterprise? Small Business? Yes! Scott has been a champion for small businesses for as long as we can remember and he made a big announcement at the start of the panel: Google Apps have become members of The Small Business Web. And we’re tickled to be in such good company. Google Apps and The Small Business Web share a common set of goals and philosophies. Specifically the the belief that web apps are more valuable when they integrate and work together. We continue to work hard to integrate Google Apps into Batchbook and have some exciting things coming up in the not to distant future that will strengthen those integrations.

The panel itself covered a range of topics from why and how web apps can work together to how small businesses can leverage the power of the web to help their business grow. The folks at SXSW have posted the audio of the panel, go have a listen!

OMG giant pink cupcake!

BatchBook & Google Apps Marketplace
Our big news of the month was that we were one of the 50 companies selected to launch in the new Google Apps Marketplace. As one of only two New England companies selected, we were excited to be a part of it and our local Providence Business News was there to cover our big moment.

Our friends at Small Business Trends also wrote a post on the Google Apps Marketplace launch, “Getting to Know the Google Apps Marketplace“, which gives a nice overview on how the services there can benefit SMB owners.

Small Business Web Directory
We launched the new version of the Small Business Web Directory at SXSW last month, which a quite a few folks wrote about. There was great write-up in Inc. magazine by Howard Greenstein, who was nice enough to attend our SXSBW party in spite of being sick.

BatchBook Is Now Part of the Google Apps MarketPlace

You may have noticed the increased excitement around BatchBlue recently. We’ve been working on some new efforts and tonight we are announcing the launch of the BatchBook as a part of the Google Apps Marketplace, Google’s online storefront for Google Apps products and services. BatchBook is part of a diverse group of applications that will now be available for sign-up directly within all Google Apps customer’s accounts.

This marketplace represents an exciting new era in the world of small business management. Google has long been a leader in providing easy, affordable, reliable applications such as Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Docs for small businesses to use to run their businesses. With the launch of the Google Apps Marketplace, Google is now making it that much easier for their customers and all small businesses to find, set up and maintain their own grab bag of business applications without the overhead of IT installation and maintenance.

Why we love the new Google Apps Marketplace:

  1. It’s easy for small businesses to set up all of their applications at once.
  2. It is safe, reliable and very affordable.
  3. The integration between Google Apps Marketplace vendors means better results and less work for small businesses.
  4. The high caliber of companies in the Google Apps Marketplace means we know our customer’s are in good hands.
  5. We got to work with THE Google.
