Customer Story: Simplifilm

For this customer story, I caught up with Chris Johnson and Jason Moore, the team behind Simplifilm. They take a unique approach to making product videos, and their results speak for themselves.

What does Simplifilm do?

We create narrative, motion graphic videos that artfully tell product stories.

How did you get started?

Jason:  When a mommy and a daddy love each other very much… (kidding). I’ve been doing motion graphics video for about 13 years, and graphic design for even longer than that. Chris and I began doing odd jobs here and there in 2008, and one particular job called for an animated video. Simple by our present standards, it opened the door to a couple of other video opportunities. Our partnership went to the next level when Chris saw a bad demo for a product he loved, and when he called them on it, they hired us to make something great. We’ve been booked solid from that time on.

Real Business – Real People

One of my more recently assumed responsibilities around here is to lead some of our Batchbook Webinars and to work with customers during their Onboarding sessions. I really enjoy both of these activities as they let me share my knowledge of Batchbook and show people how they can use it in real situations, and for real business.

There are a lot of theoreticals when you build a product or provide a service but ultimately it comes down to the people you work with. This emphasis on people is really one of the best things about working here at BatchBlue. We want you to know who you are working with when you contact us – we each have profiles on our About Page so you can get to know us. (here is mine) Every email you send is read and responded to by someone here who wants to help, who likes to help, and who understands that our response is read by another real person on the other side.

I think this is important because it gives us a framework to really understand who you are, who you really are. During Onboarding sessions I expect that kids will interrupt, you may be running a few minutes late because a nap didn’t start on time, a call ran late, life interrupted. In a call today my own cat walked across my table and stepped on the volume control for my headset, yesterday my doorbell rang. This happens, this is the way that we work and how business is done. To pretend otherwise is to ignore the reality of who you are, and who your customers are.

Batchbook has always been about people and relationships and the belief that a good CRM manages that process and all the rest is built on top of that. We hope that Batchbook is a good fit for you and that you can use it to remember the things you need to remember about the people you work with.

BatchBook Experts Program: Words (and more) from the Wise

Screen shot 2009-12-21 at 8.04.38 PM

We’ve put together a new program here at BatchBlue. You see, as we’ve grown our product and our relationships with the folks who are using it, we came to realize there are some very smart people out there who are coming up with some ingenious ways to set up and use BatchBook for their various CRM needs.

We wanted to introduce you to the folks who we know from their involvement in our forums or with our customer service team as expert BatchBook users. They each have experience setting up BatchBook accounts for themselves and their own clients, and are now available to help our users with some of the more advanced functions in BatchBook such as:

  • Prepping database and spreadsheet files and importing them into BatchBook.
  • Setting up custom fields using SuperTags and importing custom data from other systems.
  • Developing custom reports and lists.
  • Writing scripts to connect the BatchBook API to other products such as e-commerce forms, blog site, etc.
  • Using the BatchBook API to migrate data from other CRM systems

Our BatchBook cup runneth over

Hello all — Just a quick update, which is actually a nice break from all the work we’ve been doing these past few weeks.

We sent some of our BatchBlue peeps coffee tumblers for the holidays and they’ve been posting pictures (even a movie!) of the cups from different places and doing different things. Since they’ve been making us smile, we thought we’d share them here with you.

First up is a snapshot from Brooklyn-based comic/writer/lyricist, nukirk digi.tal, who won a Tumbler on Twitter:

nukirk's tumbler

Then we have designer Jason Shultz, who was so thrilled about getting his tumbler, he likened it to getting a new pony! It’s kind of an on-going joke with us at BatchBlue, you can check out the Forums — the whole silly story is in there somewhere :)
