It’s summertime and that means many BatchBluers have been taking a little time off to spend with family, go camping, splash
around in pools and relax just a bit before the mad crunch of our Super Secret Fall Launch. That doesn’t stop folks from writing about us (in fact, judging from all the press we received in recent weeks, I should go on vacation more often!)
Here are a few links to some recent articles in case you saw one of us at the beach and want to make sure that yes, there is still work getting done around BatchBlue headquarters…
Award winning software AND software builders!
We are delighted to have been selected as a Rising Star by CRM magazine as part of the 2010 CRM Market Awards. This prestigious event is attended by some of the biggest names in the CRM space: other winners included industry analyst and author Brian Solis, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, and companies like FourSquare, Radian6, Salesforce and IBM. We’re proud to have been chosen as representing “SMB meets social—in a very good way” by this organization. See the complete list of award recipients.
Speaking of winners, our very own VP of Technology Sean Ransom received his 40 under Forty Award at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI. A good time was had by most all of the BatchBluers (a couple of our crew couldn’t make it) as we celebrated Sean’s specialness with delicious drinks and food. Congratulations again to Sean on his achievement!
Multi-media
One of our favorite people in the small business world is Anita Campbell of Small Business Trends. Pamela and I were honored to be interviewed by her recently on her radio show. We had a great time talking small business with one of the leaders in this space.
While in Chicago for Start-Up Weekend, I sat down with Tim Jahn from Beyond the Pedway to talk about a topic we’re quite passionate about: the Customer Experience! Tim asked some great questions and meeting him was definitely a highlight to an already really fun and interesting weekend with some rocking Chicago entrepreneurs.
Fresh ink
The past couple of weeks have also brought some nice product reviews that we wanted to share. CRM Buyer featured us in a recent product profile of BatchBook and we received a mention in a helpful article from PC Mag about how to choose a CRM.
Phew, that’s it I think. A special thanks to our PR folks at Matter Communications who help us wrangle all this media and to all our great customers and readers for being so interested in what we’re up to.

Now that the weather’s finally getting nicer, more people heading outside to do their thing. A pleasant way to spend some time might be to grab your laptop and head outdoors, fire up the wi-fi and ice up a glass of coffeemilk to check out some recent BatchBlue press. Relaxing AND informative!
BatchBook & Google Apps Marketplace
Our big news of the month was that we were one of the 50 companies selected to launch in the new Google Apps Marketplace. As one of only two New England companies selected, we were excited to be a part of it and our local Providence Business News was there to cover our big moment.
Our friends at Small Business Trends also wrote a post on the Google Apps Marketplace launch, “Getting to Know the Google Apps Marketplace“, which gives a nice overview on how the services there can benefit SMB owners.
Small Business Web Directory
We launched the new version of the Small Business Web Directory at SXSW last month, which a quite a few folks wrote about. There was great write-up in Inc. magazine by Howard Greenstein, who was nice enough to attend our SXSBW party in spite of being sick.
Web Worker Daily helped us announce the Directory to the world, as did BusinessWeek AND ReadWriteWeb. Thanks, guys! These are some of our favorite resources for small business owners and we’re really glad they found the Directory newsworthy.
There’s also a video of a slightly tired me talking about the launch of the directory on My San Antonio.com. Get that woman some coffee
Beloved BatchBook Customers
Of course, my personal favorite category, for whom our bell tolls etc…posts from our customers about how they are using BatchBook, why they like it, and how it’s made life easier for them.
Big Thinking for Small Business: At first he liked us a little, now he likes us a lot. And all because of the simple TLC we give our BatchBook peeps. We can’t help it, we’re crazy for customer service.
Three Great CRM Tools for Small Business: We always love when someone calls US their favorite!
AMEX OPEN Forum: An excellent post on Quick Customer Touchpoints by the consistent bringer of awesomeness Chris Brogan includes a mention of BatchBook. We really like the ideas he expresses here about why staying in contact is so important in the age of social media, especially because it fits so nicely with some of what we’re doing with our upcoming re-design of BatchBook.
So that’s just a sample of some of what’s been written about us lately. Have you written a post about how you’re using BatchBook, or seen one we might have missed? Let us know, we’re happy to include it here and on our press page.
Happy organizing!

Webinars make your fingers go faster!
You may have had the chance to work with our amazing Customer Service and Onboarding Specialist Stephanie Sweeney. Did you know that she also runs our Webinar program? At least twice a month, Stephanie provides free online training on how to better use BatchBook to run your business. Recent topics include “Using BatchBook for Fun & Profit”, “BatchBook for Sales” and “The Small Business Webinar”, which looks at how BatchBook integrates with some other cool small business web apps like MailChimp, Freshbooks, Zendesk and Shoeboxed. And there’s always a Q&A session at the end, so you can ask specific questions that you may have about how you’re using BatchBook.
Register now for today and next week
The schedule can be found on our Onboarding page, but I’ll save you the click. Today at 2pm ET we’ve got “Using BatchBook for Fun & Profit” (which is kind of our BatchBook 101) and next Thursday, January 28th at 2pm ET is the very popular “Small Business Webinar“. Click the title of the session to register.
We encourage you to check out a webinar if you haven’t had a chance to. If you can’t make it, we have some recorded and posted on the Onboarding page for viewing at your leisure. And we will be adding more in upcoming weeks.
We’re always looking for ways to help our customers succeed with our product. Please let us know what webinar you’d like to see and maybe we’ll add it to our webinar schedule!
UPDATE: Due to a scheduling conflict, the Small Business Webinar date has been moved to Thursday, February 4th at 2pm EST. Still plenty of time to register here!

We’ve put together a new program here at BatchBlue. You see, as we’ve grown our product and our relationships with the folks who are using it, we came to realize there are some very smart people out there who are coming up with some ingenious ways to set up and use BatchBook for their various CRM needs.
We wanted to introduce you to the folks who we know from their involvement in our forums or with our customer service team as expert BatchBook users. They each have experience setting up BatchBook accounts for themselves and their own clients, and are now available to help our users with some of the more advanced functions in BatchBook such as:
- Prepping database and spreadsheet files and importing them into BatchBook.
- Setting up custom fields using SuperTags and importing custom data from other systems.
- Developing custom reports and lists.
- Writing scripts to connect the BatchBook API to other products such as e-commerce forms, blog site, etc.
- Using the BatchBook API to migrate data from other CRM systems
We borrowed this idea (with their blessing) from our friends at MailChimp.com, who have had their own successful experts program in place for a while now. Also — special thanks to our Lead Expert Scott Blitstein from eSeMBe.com for helping us put this program together.
Please check out our newly vetted experts. If you’d like some help with your own BatchBook account, feel free to contact them directly for more information on their services and rates. And, if you think you have what it takes to guide our users through the wonderful world of BatchBook, you can learn more about the Experts program and apply here. Whooo knows? One day you could be BatchBook Expert, too!

As small business owners, we work hard to best support our customers by quickly and efficiently answering questions and responding to issues. Now that most folks are online, our customers are contacting us in a variety of ways: through email, on the phones, in forums and even on Twitter.
Our latest integration partner, Zendesk, allows us to provide a huge step in better keeping track of your customer base and their communications with your company. Zendesk is a complete support site for your customers that allows you to collect and organize customer requests in one place. See a tour of Zendesk’s features in action.
With the BatchBook and Zendesk integration, you can view Zendesk tickets right from your BatchBook Dashboard. Once you’ve created a Zendesk account, head over to the Sync tab in your BatchBook account, select “Zendesk”, and add your Zendesk login information when prompted. Voila! The accounts will be integrated. This means that in BatchBook you’ll see:
- A dashboard widget that shows all open Zendesk tickets assigned to you.
- An activity log widget on each contact record that will show any Zendesk tickets that contact has submitted.
We hope that this new partnership will make it even easier for you to manage and grow your business and create lots of blissful customers along the way.
