New Search Social Network Button
You may have noticed a few new shiny links and buttons that we snuck into the BatchBook redesign. My favorite of these is a bright green “Search Social Network” button found under every individual’s name and title information. But don’t be fooled by the unassuming manner of this image – it actually wields a mighty power when clicked.
The “Search Social Network” activates a search through Sociotoco.com. Using the first/last name and relevant location information of your contact, the application searches through the Twitter, Flickr and LinkedIn sites and returns anyone that it thinks matches your contact. You might see a few erroneous people returned especially if you contact has a fairly common name, but you can use the included pictures and location information to help you find the right contact.
Once you’ve selected the radio button next to the matching social media accounts, click the “Save” button. Your contact will now have the social media SuperTag attached to this record and will pull the most recent Tweets, Flickr pictures and LinkedIn profile and display it on the contact page.
With this new integration, the click of a button now richly populates your contact’s profile with social media content that includes the observations, images, and relationships that make up their online world. Powerful stuff indeed.

Hey Pamela,
Im new and loving the batchbook idea and execution. I think with a little time, i will adopt better. right now…im playing with the batchbox feature.
Two quick questions that are confusing me though. 1. why do you layout the information as a 70/30 split? seems more intuitive to me to have a 30/80 split instead where reading from left to right, i would always be anchored on information in a static to dynamic flow.
Second, Will the social media button at some point pull in Facebook? Seems like a natural choice to me. Perhaps thats in another service?
Last, Couple more integration partner suggestions. A good financial tool like Xero or Kashflow would be nice. basic accounting isnt done with Freshbooks yet….. Another company you may want to approach with API love is Send Out Cards.com I would LOVE to be able to click and send out a card that way. I think that company is very parallel in philosophy to you at batchbook.
Thanks again for a great tool. Ive evaluated about 12 now…and for what I need and our volunteer efforts…Batchbook is great.
I love this feature. Very easy and very happymaking.
Hi Robb –
Thanks for the message. I can see your point on the 30/70split – but I think that layout is usually used for site navigation. In BatchBook, the prime real estate is given to the details, while the ancillary information is displayed to the right.
And yes, we will be adding additional networks to the social search feature. Your suggestion is a great one.
And thank you also for the integration suggestions. Have you seen our coalition of integrating SaaS companies – http://thesmallbusinessweb.com As you can tell, we have a thing about integrating.
Mark – what a nice thing to say. Now I am happy, too.
This option is only looking by Name? Actually many people prefer to change account name in Social Networks and would be good to search them by email also. Please consider!
I had been away for awhile and came back to this great button, good work
The more buttons that automate the busy work the better for me!
Alex – sorry I missed your message before. We are using integration with Sociotoco.com for the search and currently they base it on first and last name. But we will pass along the message – they are constantly making updates.
Tyson – thanks for the message and welcome back. Next up, the “Search your dryer for the missing sock” button.
