Batchbook Customer Profile: CitiKitty

Editors Note: Around here we love to talk about how smart our users are! What can I say, we’re admittedly a little biased. We love the concept behind CitiKitty and are smitten by the fact that Rebecca’s both an inventor and entrepreneur at the same time!  We’d also like to congratulate CitiKitty on their upcoming episode on SharkTank this Friday! Go get ‘em!

BB: Hello! Tell Us A Little Bit About What Your Company Does And What Services You Provide: My company manufactures and distributes a toilet training kit for cats called CitiKitty to pet, retail and online stores around the world. CitiKitty teaches cats to use the toilet so cat owners never have to scoop kitty litter again. A simple solution to the dirty litter box!

BB: How Did You Get Started?
I toilet trained my own cat Samantha in 2004 when she was 11 years old. In 3 weeks she was using the toilet! Thrilled, I immediately started on creating CitiKitty so other cat owners could to the same.

BB: How Long Have You Been In Business And How Many Employees Do You Currently Have?
CitiKitty launched in 2005. I have a network of freelancers I use for various projects and after tremendous sales growth in 2010 I now have 2 employees.

BB: What Is Your Target Audience?
Any cat owner around the world. There is a lot of them too – there are over 200 million cats worldwide!

BB: How Does Your Company Stay Connected With Clients And Your Business Community?
With BatchBook of course! We have hundreds of leads active at anytime and we use BatchBook to manage each of these contacts and our communication with them through the sales process. In addition to managing the leads through BatchBook we are now using a few of the BatchBook integrations to streamline the process. I am a huge fan of Rapportive and MailChimp. BatchBook makes it simple to manage your contacts no matter how you are communicating with them. Also, I am the last person on the planet to not have an iPhone but when I get one the BatchBook app is the first app I am downloading.

BB: Can You Offer Any Advice For Anyone Else Looking To Start Their Own Company?
Ask yourself how much am I willing to lose to pursue this business? If its 1k or 100k stick within that budget to make it happen. I hear so often of people that keep spending money thinking that it will make their business successful and they get over their heads financially. If you have a great idea it can happen on any budget!

BB: Is There Anything Else You Would Like To Add?
If you have a litter box you are living in the dark ages – LOL. More seriously, if you are reading this you are inevitably a small-business owner trying to make it happen. I want to be the first to say you can do it. Stay focused and keep on target!
